Ian McKean began planting a variety of conifer trees on his farm in 1958 and today it’s one of the largest collections in the southern hemisphere. Bring a picnic and enjoy the walking tracks through the trees. The views stretch to Mt Ruapehu on a fine day.

A short, easy walk up a creek will transport you to this tranquil and scenic cave with glow worms. Bring gumboots or shoes you don’t mind getting wet because you walk in the stream to get in the cave. Located 20 minutes’ drive from Āpiti village.
